3 Days Grace finished in 5

The release of 3 Days Grace's new Album One-X is preceeded by the popular single Animal I Have Become. The song is increasingly gaining popularity and air play with many large radio conglomerates and fans. As for music videos, this was to be the obvious choice.

The production company, The Mine, LLC, headed up by Arthur Gorson, was responsible for setting the location and concept for the platinum level band. Dean Karr, director of other dynamic music video artists (such as, Willie Nelson, Cypress Hill, Seether, Jason Mraz and Shooter Jennings to name a few), was selected to inspire greatness. Karr, an MTV, Billboard, and MVPA Award nominee, has established his look as more than desirable. By virtue of his character, he has manifested a deep respect and friendship from many of the music groups he shoots and is sought after time and time again from the same and new artists.

The Mine once again chose Video Box Studios to finish all the necessaries for their latest masterpiece. The concept called for Lead man - Adam Gontier to wrestle with his inner demon (the animal). Gontier wakes one morning to find his apartment in shambles. Retrospectively, we follow him throughout a "normal" day and more importantly, his turmoil. Many VFX shots were required to establish this feeling of despair.

First were the "bed wrestling" shots. Gontier is in between sleeping and waking with the animal version of himself tormenting him. This involved an obvious rotoscoped situation, "demon-ifying" the animal Gontier, and a chaotic editing style reminiscent of hit horror flick - The Ring.

Second was what I refer to as "money shots". Gontier wakes up and looks in the mirror. To check if he's feeling alright, he stretches his skin from his eye with his index finger. This shot was a frame by frame by frame reality to get it to look "natural".

Third were the reflection shots. In the reflections of him walking to his destination, the animal had to taunt him. Is he there or is he not.... and then finally his reflection is affirmed. Yup he's there. The animal faces were achieved by use of distorting Gontier's actual reflection and enhancing typical human skin characteristics (creases, pits of eyes, etc).

And finally... well I should just leave a little to the imagination.

Jada Pinkett-Smith, Lead Singer.

WICKED WISDOM frontwoman Jada Pinkett-Smith (actress and wife of actor/rapper Will Smith) recently told The News-Times that the band's self-titled debut, due out Feb. 21 on 100% Woman/Suburban Noize, includes the song "Set Me Free", which is about misogyny in music; "You Can't Handle This", which appears on the Ozzfest DVD; and "Bleed All Over Me", which is being finished in house now.

"Bleed All Over Me" is a dark and extrememly well handled video. Director Dean Karr does an amazing Job at bringing the feeling of creep and tingle into your spine with the bands new release. The subject of the video is Jada rising from the dead and floating off the ground in her spiritual metaform. She then summons her fellow corpses to rise and come forth.

Jada was shot suspended by cables. Video Box Studios erased all the rigging and enhanced key shots to elevate the tone of darkness. Once all the shots were approved by Karr and Producer Arthur Gorson (The Mine, Los Angeles), the shots were re-inserted back into the sequence and finished for online.

The Best Post. And The Best Coffee?

A few months ago I was pulling a late night, as most of my associates do as well, and I over heard a couple of our "newest" clients talking next to the water cooler. The conversation went a little something like this:

Guy 1 - "Man! These guys have great coffee."

Guy 2 - "You don't have to tell me. I'm on my fourth cup now!"

Guy 1 - "Four! You've only had Four! sheeeeesh! I'm on my eighth."

Guy 2 - "Yeah I'll be there soon enough"

I would assume these guys are massive coffee drinkers because we did not have to rush anybody to the emergency room that night for heart related trauma.

A couple of weeks ago, one of our other clients asked where we got our coffee and could she order some herself.

So with all the buzz about our java, here is a plug for the joe we drink.

My Friend Adrienne Pellizzari runs a coffee shop in Costa Rica called Cafe Milagro. She visits all the top plantations and tastes each specialty roast. When she moved down there, she was amazed at how Costa Rica puts out some of the worlds tastiest coffee, but none of the locals ever get to drink it. The big coffee conglomerates (those I will not mention but I think we all have an idea), get their coffee from the same place as Adrienne. Only difference is she personally makes sure each of her batches are top notch. Can't really say that about the "Big Guys". So every bag we buy rules!

Check out Cafe Milagro and buy a few dozen bags yourself. You'll be glad you did.
